Frankly, I'm stunned that there are is a comics storyline from the late 80s that I've read and Shag hadn't- considering his background. ;-) I agree on the Grant/Breyfogle team. Some of my favorite stories were in the period following the 'Summer of Batman' in 1989. The 'Mud Pack' storyline was the one which secured my Detective Comics readership, and I remember how well it was written for noobs like me- who were just getting into the Dark Knight in the post-Crisis DCU.
