EPISODE 144: THE ROCKY HORROR HALLOWEEN/SAMHAIN EPISODE SHOW

Episode 144: The Rocky Horror Halloween/Samhain Episode Show

While it really doesn’t have anything to do with Halloween or Samhain I thought that I would devote an entire episode of the show to a movie that means quite a bit to me; The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Through this two hour extravaganza I talk about my personal history with the movie, what it was like going to see the film at the midnight movies, the music of both the movie and the stage musical that inspired it and eventually I get around to talking about the three issue adaptation that Caliber Comics put out in 1990.  So in an odd way you are in store for some music and fun and you just might learn something before it is done.

Hey, hey, hey!

Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

During the course of the episode I describe the back covers to the comics.  Here is what they looked like.

Again I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween/Samhain!

Next time: No clue.  I’ll think of something, though.

EPISODE 143: GETTING STUFF OFF MY CHEST…THE 2012 EDITION

Episode 143: Getting Stuff Off My Chest…The 2012 Edition

I really don’t know how this is going to go.

This time out I not only go completely raw editing wise (seriously, I only made one or two cuts to this episode) but I also have no notes and talk about stuff that I normally wouldn’t talk about.  I also go into areas I try to shy away from, like religion and politics.  So this is uncharted territory for me and I am a bit nervous about how the episode is going to be received.

Anyway I spend the first part of the episode talking about the New 52 Superman.  What I like and what I don’t like.  After the break is when the “heavy” stuff begins and I go into my problems with the American political process and how people react to each others’ religious beliefs (or lack thereof) and then bring all of that into comics and my issues with how certain comic fans acts on Facebook.  Then I end up talking about Superman again because, as we all know, it all comes back to Superman.

So yeah…the episode is out there and the reactions will be what the reactions will be.  Here’s hoping I have listeners after this.

Oh, and when I say this episode is raw I mean it.  Dogs are barking.  My wife comes into the room.  This is pure podcasting, folks.  Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Next time: Halloween 2012

EPISODE 142: SUMMER OF SPIDER-MAN – CONCLUSION

Episode 142: Summer of Spider-Man – Conclusion

As the title suggests this episode features the conclusion of my Summer of Spider-Man series.  It was a fun ride but the time has come to put on the brakes and move on to other comic book pastures.  Before I do that, however, I am joined once again by Savage Steve Raker (of Marvel Noise fame) to talk about the very first appearance of Spider-Man.  Steve and I look at Amazing Fantasy #15 and really dive into the Web Head’s debut.  After that we talk about Amazing Spider-Man Annual #5, which delves into the unknown history of Peter Parker’s parents.  Recording with Steve is always fun and he is welcome back to the show anytime.

At the end of the episode I talk about some changes that are being made to Views as a show.  It’s nothing Earth shaking and the show isn’t going away but I have made some decisions and I think they are in the show’s best interest, so stick around all the way until the end and find out what I have in store.

Next time: Another catharsis episode.  I have something on my mind.  It’s time to talk about it.
