Episode 80: Another Random Mess

After a week off due to inclement weather and technical issues I am back with a pretty random collection of segments that somehow form a complete episode.  Actually I really like recording these episodes because I can talk about the things that don’t qualify for an entire episode.  Subjects include what I am currently reading, a podcast recommendation which turns into not one but two website recommendations, an Ask Mike question, an e-mail and a call to arms for you the Views From The Longbox audience.  All of this for your listening pleasure.

The podcast recommendation I mentioned in the episode that morphed into the two website thing is The Golden Age of Comic Books Podcast.  This show is hosted by Bill Jourdain and the more I listen to it the more I enjoy it.  Not only does Bill have a very easy going manner but I am learning a great deal about the Golden Age, especially the characters that were not published by DC Comics.  The link above takes you to both the home for the podcast and Bill’s blog, which is very entertaining.  Bill also created The Golden Age Batman website a good number of years ago and it is an outstanding resource for the original comic book adventures of the Dark Knight.  So check both of those sites out and give the show a listen.

I made two announcements at the end of the show, the first a reminder that I will be at the College Park location of Titans Games and Comics on May 2nd to record the Free Comic Book Day episode.  The address and phone number for that location, in case you live in the Metro Atlanta area and may actually want to come out and see a show in progress is 5436J Riverdale Road, College Park, GA 30349, 770-996-9129.  The Titans sign is no more, so look for the shopping center with Big Daddy’s in it and you are there.

The second announcement is that I have a giveaway going on here that I did a pretty good job of ripping off from Major Spoilers and making my own.  Check out the widget to the right or the page above marked WFTLB OFFICIAL POSTER GIVEAWAY for the full details.

As usual you can contact me by clicking here or commenting below.  You can also make a post or leave feedback over at the Views From The Longbox Forums, brought to you by the Geek Out Loud Forums.  In addition to all of that you can become a member of the Views From The Longbox Corps over on Facebook and feel free to friend me when you do.  And remember to check out my sponsor at In Stock Trades for all of your collected edition needs.

Next week: Zero Hour and the return of Shag.  See you then.

    Good episode. Two observations, however:

“May 20, 2008″? Did I hear that correctly? I understand getting the year wrong- but the month, too?!

Also, the Cowardly Lion got Courage in Oz- not a heart :-)

Yeah, caught that Lion thing at a point where I couldn’t really change it.

Sometimes when you are on a roll things just happen.

I got nothing on the date thing.

    Really. I don’t.
