EPISODE 91: 1991 or “THE YEAR NEARLY WITHOUT COMICS”
Episode 91: 1991 or “The Year Nearly Without Comics”
This week I continue the 13 part look back into my past (all leading up to the epic episode 100) with 1991. 1991 was kind of an odd year for me and comics. Because of various factors that are revealed during the episode I didn’t get to buy a whole heck of a lot of books during the course of the year. So this episode has a lot of personal, non-comic book related anecdotes as well, so heads up as far as that goes. I do discuss Clark’s engagement to Lois in the Superman books, Armageddon 2001, War of the Gods, Superman: The Man of Steel, X-Men, X-Force as well as the second series of Marvel Universe cards. All of this and some Ask Mike Questions and a few e-mails to boot.
I have been guest starring on other podcasts lately and two of those hit this week. The first being Starkville’s House of El with my good buddy Big Honkin’ Steve. I appeared on episode 126 of that series where we discuss the history of General Zod. Additionally I was on an episode of Back to the Bins with Scott Gardner, where we talk about two random back issues. Scott is also the co-host of Two True Freaks, along with his friend Chris, and if you are looking for some great commentary on comic books and Star Trek and Star Wars then check out Two True Freaks because it is well worth your time.
Oh, and as promised…Rob Liefeld’s 501 Jeans commercial. Yes, that is Spike Lee.
Next week…1992…with the Irredeemable Shag!

downloading this episode now. This is the first part of the countdown to episode 100 that I can remember purchasing some of the books when they were released. awesome work, mike(and that pertains to every podcast you’ve been on in the past few weeks.)
