VIEWS FROM THE LONGBOX

Hey, all!  I don’t normally post random things on this site but this is a pretty big announcement and I needed to get the word out ASAP.

For the past several months I have been threatening to have a portion of episode 100 where I open the floor to you the audience and have a “live” call segment.  “Live” because it’s not really live but I thought it might be fun to mingle with y’all a bit as a thank you for listening to the show for the past hundred (or so) episodes.

So here is how it is going to work; this Sunday (January 17, 2010) Shag and I are getting together to record episode 100.  He and I are going to start around nine or so Eastern Standard Time here in the United States.  At 10:30 Eastern Standard Time (again, that’s the local time for Shag and I here in the States) we are going to “open up the lines” and one at a time have people come on for a few minutes.  The floor is pretty much open to you.  If you just want to come on and say, “Hi!” that’s cool.  If you have something you want to ask either Shag or me that’s cool too.  If you want to tell me what you don’t like about the show…well, I guess that would be fine though I doubt it will end up in the final product.

The call in segment will happen through Skype.  My Skype ID is michael.bailey66.  Starting at 10:30 message me on Skype and I will add you to a chat that will serve as the “green room”.  When your turn comes up I will add you into the call and that’s where the fun begins.

And now the fine print and this is important so please pay attention.

This is going to sound harsh but please do not call me when you sign on to Skype.  These “live caller” things are kind of hectic and it is important to keep a bit of order to the whole thing.  Message me, I’ll add you in and then call you when the time comes.  Trying to call me before Shag and I are ready will only slow things up.  I don’t know how many people are going to show but I want this to go as smoothly as possible.  I will try to take you in the order you show up as well as to be fair.

I am not trying to be rude here but having gone through these over at the Spider-Man Crawlspace Podcast I know how weird and wild this sort of thing.

Having said that I hope as many of you can come out to play as possible.  If you do not have or are not aware of Skype it is a program that you can download and sign up for and as long as you have a headset or a mic and headphones you can voice chat with people FOR FREE.  Check out Skype’s Official Website for details.

If you can’t make it on Sunday and want to be part of the fun go ahead and click here to e-mail me.  You can also, if you feel like it, send in an MP3 file and I will play that at some point during the episode.  The show itself will be posted on January 25, 2010 (Happy Birthday, Big Honkin’ and Ryan!) so I will probably be editing the night before, so you have about a week or so for the e-mails and the MP3s.
