Episode 138: Happy Birthday, Spider-Man Part 5 – Trapped In a World…
I really don’t know how to explain this one, folks. I’m not even sure how I managed to record this episode. To put it simply; at the end of the last episode I somehow became trapped in an alternate reality where the Michael Bailey of that world was a Spider-Man fan instead of a Superman fan. I spent about a week on that world and it was just…strange.
Very strange.
Like really, freaking weird.
Anyway, having spent a week seeing how the other half lives I thought it would be a good idea to spend some time talking about how that world’s Mike got into Spider-Man instead of the Man of Steel, why it’s easier to be a Spider-Man fan than a Superman fan, what I like about Spidey and other bits of business including some of the songs that Spider-Man inspired. At one point I hit upon a way to return home and…you’ll just have to listen to find out that all turned out.
Next time: Something kind of random but fun. I’ll leave it as a surprise for right now. Look at it as a brief respite between Happy Birthday, Spider-Man and the Summer of Spider-Man.
By the way…I have no idea where the above image comes from but I found it via Google Search and thought it would be fun to use. It is very awesome to behold.

Thanks, Michael!
This was kinda funny, actually. And it made for an interesting thought experiment about how much and how little one small change in your past could have made. Maybe I’m reading stuff into this beyond the joke you intended but I thought it was a fairly thought-provoking episode.
Still, it might’ve played better if you’d kissed Alternate Rachel so that she forgot the week she’d lived up to that point.
Actually you aren’t putting too much thought into it at all. What started out as a fun idea for an episode turned into the very thing you just described; a thought experiment. When I started going through the alternate timeline I realized what would have been different in the other world and the implications of those differences. So the episode works on several levels and I am glad you thought it was fun.
Yeppers. The only way it could improve is if we could listen to the Ultimate Brand New Chapter One Mike from Earth 616 recount his bizarre trip into the life of the New Infinite 52 Mike from Earth-Zero Hour on his version of VFTL.
But hey…
